Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join Chantilly’s growing Civil, Water Resources and Solid Waste / Industrial Engineering Group. Candidate would primarily support the design, permitting, bid, and construction of various civil and solid waste facilities including solid waste landfills, pond closures, and decommissioning of dams with an additional focus on geotechnical engineering. The candidate would also provide support for various other civil, environmental and water resources projects.
Work with an experienced multidisciplinary group of civil, environmental and water resources engineers in the execution of diverse design projects
Develop conceptual and final design documents including reports, calculations and drawing sets
Prepare permit applications and interface with regulatory agencies
Prepare and QA / QC construction documents, technical specifications and cost estimates
Interact with clients
Work collaboratively in a team environment to facilitate successful project execution
Oversee technicians where necessary
Some travel / field work may be required (typically local)
Skills / Qualifications
BS and / or MS in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical required; Solid waste engineering experience is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
0-2 years of civil design, geotechnical and / or stormwater management related experience preferred
Engineering-in-Training certification preferred
Industrial landfill design is a plus
Proficiency using AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred
Experience with HELP, GIS, HEC-RAS and HydroCAD is a plus
Industrial and Municipal government design experience is a plus
Experience with coal combustion residuals is a plus
Familiarity with landfill regulations and design is a plus
