The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Marketing and Communications office seeks to hire a creative and highly motivated graphic designer to join its team. This position works closely with other team members and clients to support the mission and uphold the brand of UTIA and its units and departments. This person will work on a wide variety of printed and electronic materials that will represent UTIA visually to constituents within the organization, throughout the state of Tennessee, and globally. This position requires the ability to create original designs with a high visual impact and that adhere to the existing UTIA brand guidelines. Projects may range from small-scale updates of existing designs to larger-scale items such as annual reports, magazines, or displays. This person should have a good understanding of how design relates to emerging technologies and social media. This position will also have photography duties on occasion.
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Communication Graphics Technology; or associate's degree in Graphic Design or Communication Graphics Technology with two years of professional graphic design experience.
Strong design skills to include composition, typography, color, and photography
Advanced proficiency in current version of the Adobe CS software
Knowledge of printing processes and techniques
Ability to multitask and prioritize jobs
Work well independently as well as within a group
Be receptive to constructive criticism
Professional and customer service-oriented attitude
Enthusiastic and self-motivated
Be open to continuing professional education
Preference may be given to applicants with two or more years of professional graphic design experience.
Proficiency in industry standard office suite software including digital presentation software
Strong photography skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
