This position will develop and maintain strategic international student recruitment planning, marketing, and communication efforts. Responsibilities include:
Serving as Designated School Official (DSO) and Assistant Responsible Officer (ARO) to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State, including the issuing of I-20/DS2019 documents and maintenance of SEVIS records.
Providing F-1 immigration advising to international students regarding status, compliance, and benefits.
Developing and maintaining foreign credential evaluation system.
Coordinating international student financial aid awarding policies; collaborating with Financial Aid and Admissions to ensure 100% compliance with federal laws regarding international students and ensuring student packages are completed promptly.
Maintaining and overseeing policies and procedures governing the F-1 student program.
Advising the college of international student related issues with regard to Department of Homeland Security and Department of State regulations pursuant to maintaining international students' immigration and visa status.
Serving as a campus liaison with U.S. foreign governmental sponsors, external foundations and agencies, and the University of Tennessee system.
Collaborating with Student Affairs, Public Relations, and other key stakeholders to promote and advance international programs, alumni and international student recruiting.
Working with international students to ensure positive adjustment to new surroundings, demands of studies, social activities and integration, providing recommendations on counseling services and other available support.
Representing international student admissions information at recruitment events, high school and college visits.
Developing recruiting materials, promotional videos and social networking site; monitoring, updating and changing web contents.
Developing and coordinating an international student orientation program for new international students.
Assisting the Executive Director with the operations of the UTC International Office.
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in study abroad/international education or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree in International Studies, Education, or related field is preferred. Must have demonstrated budget management and fiscal supervisory experience; direct experience with SEVIS and F-1/J-1 regulations, procedures, and reporting requirement as ARO/DSO. Must possess an understanding of the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security regulations and procedures. Must have the ability to work with academic and student services offices; to understand and to support the pursuit of SEVIS documentations. Some experience analyzing and interpreting data is preferred. Must have experience with website publication and maintenance; familiarity with student records system, with knowledge of Banner preferred; excellent public speaking skills and proficiency with technology. Experience analyzing and interpreting data is preferred. Some international and domestic travel is required. Experience living, working, or studying abroad is preferred. Proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English is preferred.
