Pediatric Sedation Service provides pediatric patient and family-centered deep and moderate sedation for procedures, imaging or other services. Staff work in close partnership with pediatric anesthesiologists during deep sedations, and work independently for moderate sedations. In our fast-paced setting, we foster professional role and relationship competence. We strive for excellence in interdepartmental partnerships. Flexibility, rapid assessments and interventions for quick case turnovers are key. Positive family engagement with skills in distraction techniques, and holding for positioning and comfort are emphasized.

QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications for the position are the minimum requirements to be eligible for an interview. The level of required experience and expertise for each posted position is influenced by the current amount of knowledge and skills of the other nurses in the unit/departments.
External applicants- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools
Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network
2 years Pediatric Sedation, Pediatric Intensive Care and/or Pediatric Phase 1 recovery experience from a tertiary hospital setting
Current PALS certification
Prolonged periods of walking and standing
Pushing carts,stretchers, beds and cribs to multiple campus locations
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Fluency in a language other than English, with Spanish most needed
Specialty Experience: 4-6 weeks (Variable)
