Summary: The Senior Institutional Research Analyst collects, analyzes, summarizes, and disseminates information to support data-driven decision-making, policy development, assessment, and planning activities that advance the University's strategic plan. Responsibilities include designing and executing a wide variety of research queries; developing, utilizing, and managing key databases to support overall operations; applying advanced statistical expertise to provide in-depth data analysis; preparing research reports that transform the data into clear, timely, and precise summaries; performing benchmarking research; and preparing higher education standard government and accreditation reports.

Education/Experience: Masters Degree in educational research, statistics, computer information systems, or a related field that required focus on advanced analytical techniques plus 3-5 years of experience using Ellucian Colleague (or equivalent), reporting and statistical analysis software (e.g. Informer, SAS, SPSS, MS Access and Excel) in the higher education setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Excellent computer skills and advanced proficiency in using Higher Education Enterprise Systems (e.g., Ellucian Colleague) to retrieve and manipulate data and software packages such as SPSS, MS Office Suite including advanced Excel and Access skills to analyze data.Experience with querying tools (Informer) and demonstrated ability to extract and evaluate large datasets.Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to write queries to pull data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions, and make appropriate data-driven recommendations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex material effectively to a non-technical audience.Excellent organizational and planning skills, highest level of attention to accuracy and respect for data integrity, and detail-oriented work habits.Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.Advanced human relations skills and experience working effectively independently and in teams across multiple areas and levels of a university (faculty, staff, and administrators).Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and discretion, to behave with integrity, and to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive and confidential information.Familiarity with survey methodology and software (Qualtrics) preferred.Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.Ability to travel between campuses.
Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position requires sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer, and may require additional hours during peak times. Essential Functions: Use querying tools to extract data from Ellucian Colleague relevant to institutional research, planning, assessment, and institutional improvement.Use appropriate software packages to evaluate and statistically analyze large datasets.Conduct research on topics as assigned for the purpose of institutional benchmarking and ascertaining best practices.Formulate conclusions and make recommendations following careful, critical analysis of the data.Plan, prepare, and deliver reports, presentations, and publications that effectively communicate the results to a non-technical audience.Work cooperatively with other members of the Research and Academic Operations team, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the Provosts Office to support long term and day-to-day operations, including accreditation activities, institutional improvement initiatives, assessment, program review, strategic planning, and compliance with all reporting requirements.Collaborate with University colleagues to develop and implement a plan to assess, evaluate, and improve student enrollment and retention in the traditional and online programs.Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops to stay engaged and keep current with regard to the responsibilities of the position.
