NATIONAL TRAINING MANAGER
The National Training Manager works with the Director of Attorney Development to design, develop, and deliver substantive legal skills training and other professional development programs, both locally and Firmwide. This position will be primarily responsible for working with subject matter experts to design and develop training curricula and programming; providing and coordinating all aspects of technical and operational support during the design and implementation of training programming; developing strategies to promote training programming and increase attendance; developing metrics and reporting to demonstrate success and application of training programming; ensuring that training programming is tailored to developmental needs and responsive to information collected in the performance management process; managing compliance with CLE rules and requirements; working with the Attorney Development group to provide instructional design expertise for Firmwide orientations and retreats; and completing other Attorney Development initiatives at the direction of the Director and Firm Leadership. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters. – LOCATION CAN BE CHICAGO, NEW YORK or WASHINGTON, D.C.
Identifies and coordinates internal and external resources for the delivery of other practice-related skills such as legal writing and research, oral communication and presentation, managerial skills, and business development.
Responsible for all aspects of the CLE process, including managing coordinators responsible for CLE processing and compliance, being subject matter expert on CLE rules in accredited jurisdictions and in jurisdictions where the Firm has offices.
Keeps abreast of trends in professional development for attorneys, and evaluates seminar content and presenter effectiveness to ensure efficient delivery of content and attorney interest on topic.
Evaluates programs against attorney development and performance in respective areas.
Implements processes to measure and maximize program effectiveness and quality.
Provides referral services as necessary to attorneys with specific training and/or development needs.
Increases firm awareness of internal and external training and development opportunities.
Plans and delivers one-on-one professional skills training and performance coaching to Partners, Associates, and staff.
Conducts needs assessments in coordination with the Director of Attorney Development, Office Administrator, and/or individual Attorney’s legal executive/administrative assistant as appropriate.
Provides specialized training on an appointment basis to lawyers and staff, focusing on professional development and performance management.
Assists with annual budgeting process for Attorney Development department.
Necessary Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three plus years experience in professional development or training in a law firm or other legal or professional services environment. Must be proficient in application of instructional design, curriculum design, and adult learning principals. Working knowledge of CLE rules and requirements and best practices regarding CLE processes and procedures. Advanced degree and/or experience in instructional design or adult learning preferred. Familiarity with New York, Illinois, and California CLE requirements preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Windows-based systems, particularly the Microsoft Office 2010 suite. Familiarity with viDesktop, CE Manager, and SharePoint highly desirable. Familiarity with document management systems and other legal applications highly desirable.

Possess the ability to identify and propose resolutions to problems in a timely manner through use of resources, including asking questions, gathering facts and reviewing records.
Must be flexible to work overtime, travel on occasion, accept tasks outside of normal job duties, and be open to assume new responsibilities if the needs of the department changes.
