NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The National Professional Development Manager works with the Director of Attorney Development to develop and deliver the Firm’s professional development programming. This position will be primarily responsible for delivering the Firm’s client service skills curriculum; planning, developing and delivering Firmwide orientation and retreat programming, including the new associate orientation, new income partner retreat, and other attorney retreats and boot camps; implementing and managing a Firmwide mentoring program; overseeing local and national associate committees; and completing other Attorney Development initiatives at the direction of the Director and Firm Leadership. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters. – LOCATION CAN BE CHICAGO OR NEW YORK
Works with the Director of Attorney Development and other members of the Attorney Development team to design new initiatives and programs to ensure the continued professional development of the Firm’s attorneys.
Evaluates programming against attorney development and performance in respective areas.
Collaborates with other members of the Attorney Development team to implement and manage Firmwide mentoring programming, including tracking and reporting.
Keeps abreast of trends in professional development for attorneys, and evaluates seminar content and presenter effectiveness to ensure efficient delivery of content and attorney interest on topic.
Provides referral services as necessary to attorneys with specific training and/or development needs.
Increases firm awareness of internal and external training and development opportunities.
Assists with annual budgeting process for Attorney Development department.
Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three plus years experience in professional development or training in a law firm or other legal or professional services environment. Must be proficient in application of instructional design, curriculum design, and adult learning principals. Advanced degree and/or experience in instructional design or adult learning preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Windows-based systems, particularly the Microsoft Office 2010 suite. Familiarity with viDesktop, CE Manager, and SharePoint highly desirable. Familiarity with document management systems and other legal applications highly desirable.

Must be flexible to work overtime, travel on occasion, accept tasks outside of normal job duties, and be open to assume new responsibilities if the needs of the department changes.
