HSBC Luxembourg has a Risk function which supports the various businesses and functions or entities in Luxembourg. In order to strengthen our Luxembourg team, we are looking to recruit a:
Risk Manager Permanent contract
Managed by the Country Chief Risk Officer, the job holder will be responsible for supporting the country risk management team.
Role and Responsibilities:
Being the single point of contact for all Risk MI and reporting (all entity Risk Management Meetings, Reputation Risk and Client Selection Committee, and Risk input to any other committees both locally and regionally).
Minute-taker for Risk Governance meetings listed above.
Coordinating the oversight and follow-up of all country risk and other open action points both for the department and for the country as a whole, in order to ensure that proper and timely closure of agree action points is achieved
Participate as the Risk Management representative in all project working groups
Act as the primary day-to-day 2nd line of defence contact point for credit risk management, in particular for the private banking credit activity and the growing PCM (GB & CMB) activity
Coordinate the drafting and maintenance of local risk policies for all entities and staff, together with the publication and awareness programmes rolled out in support
Project responsibilities as determined and agreed
Ad hoc risk review work, at short notice, across the Country; with Regional support where and if required
Professional Skills and Experience;
At least 3 years of experience in risk management. University-level qualifications in Banking or Audit would be an advantage
Operational credit risk management, credit analysis, corporate governance and policy-writing experience and/or internal control experience are all desirable areas of experience which would be an advantage. This experience may have been gained within a business function rather than specifically in a control function
Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills and the ability to understand and articulate complex concepts in ordinary language to a large multicultural audience
Ability to understand and communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience
Track record of delivering projects or assignments in tight timeframes with minimal supervision
Comfort in dealing confidently with management at the most senior levels of the Group
A solid and broad understanding of all major classes of banking activity, banking products, processes and systems
Knowledge of the regulatory landscape in the financial services sector
Excellent knowledge of Word and Excel
Fluency in English required, French and/or another European language desired.
