As part of Global Risk, Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC's regulatory requirements, and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.
In this role, you will:
Ensure an independent, appropriate, consistent Regulatory Compliance Products framework is implemented across Global Private Banking (GPB) product lines.
Communication of output and messaging across multiple GPB product lines. This will include the representation of material to internal and external stakeholders including regulators, senior management, auditors, internal governance, control and risk management meetings.
Execution and tracking of deliverables with the ability to provide instant updates to Senior Management and business management when required.
Work directly with the GPB team to make sure that as a business any new products / services are aligned to the HSBC Global Standards framework and meet all the necessary RC requirements and ensure that the business is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and codes of practice.
The Head of GPB RC Products will be accountable for building robust compliance coverage for Regulatory Compliance (RC) for all GPB areas.
Lead independent oversight and challenge of the risk management practices across the business ensuring the business objectives are aligned regulatory requirements
Partner with regulatory change and other regulatory SMEs to understand new and revised regulatory requirements, codes of practice etc., ensuring changes and any impact is disseminated to the appropriate Businesses
Direct a team providing advisory guidance, support and policy interpretation to the Business.
Coordinating with equivalent counterparts in regional compliance teams across GPB to ensure a consistent, best practice and 'joined-up' approach to the oversight of the businesses
To be successful in the role, it is likely that you should meet the following requirements:
Leadership experience and a strategic thinker.
Private Banking experience desirable.
Ability to lead change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Business globally.
Significant knowledge of Regulatory Compliance risks.
Practical experience of policy implementation and change activity.
Private Banking or Retail experience desirable.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy in the language of business.
Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex issues.
Organised and capable of interpreting and analysing complex information and / or data and rendering it into a summary of issues and recommendations or a succinct summary for management.
Team player, analytical, ability to perform under pressure.
Ability to adopt a tailored and effective communication style to varying levels of management up to and including Senior Management.
