We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team conducting research on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). The current HPAI outbreak in poultry presents researchers and the poultry industry with complex problems that, to date, are difficult to fully define, describe, and solve. The successful applicant will not only provide research project coordination and faculty support, but also be engaged in some or all of these general activities:
1) Conference Planning, implementation and participation 2) Outbreak investigation support 3) Data analysis, data entry, data cleaning 4) Epidemiological investigation experience and support 5) Outreach to commodity groups and stakeholders, including organizing conferences, meetings and events. 6) Communicating orally with a range of audiences, e.g. business, industry, government and academia via conference calls or in-person presentations. 7) Providing project coordination and administrative tasks to support the projects.

•BA/BS in Animal Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Biochemistry or related field; or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years
•Demonstrated/documented advanced skills in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
•Experience with office organization and administrative support roles.
•Demonstrated/documented excellent writing and communication skills.
•Demonstrated/documented strong interpersonal skills to successfully and comfortably interact with private, public, and academic partners
•Comfortable speaking in large or small groups in order to provide or support outreach activities to private, public, and academic partners.
•Experience with Poultry or poultry industry
•Experience inputting, maintaining and organizing data
•Experience planning and executing events for research and outreach
•Knowledge of HPAI or other infectious diseases of food animals.
•Prior project coordination and logistics experience.
•Experience with environmental science and/or environmental contamination (e.g. water, air, or soil/regional spread of contaminants.
•Knowledge of state and federal aspects of environmental contamination.
•Experience with business continuity planning
•Ability to read and edit lengthy technical documents
•Experience with conference/event planning
•Experience writing reports, both technical, non-technical, informational, and scientific.
