The Critical Care Coordinator has the responsibility and accountability for the clinical quality outcomes for patients/families, education, and resource management. The Coordinator will take an integral role in planning, implementing, evaluating and providing evidence-based education to the Associates. He/she must have schedule flexibility and promote harmony and teamwork. He/she will have consistent competent clinical skills and will at times provide direct clinical bedside care in the Critical Care Setting, having knowledge of and working within the 2N/3CV Scope of Practice.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital as well as understanding developmental, cultural, gender and geographical variances. The roles/responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Determines educational needs of the nursing staff and provides education programs for new and current nursing associates.
Promotes collaborative relationship relationships among healthcare professionals; participates in Committees, Task Forces, meetings and activities to assist in the development of staff, ultimately resulting in improved care.
Serves as a resource person to staff.
Assists with ongoing education, competency validation, and documentation of specific Critical Care Clinical Competencies.
Educates and leads implementation of Evidence-based Practice, such as ASCN Alert.
Facilitates shared-governance model and participates in hospital committees as appropriate.
Participates in development of patient/family educational needs, learning plan, etc.
Develops, implements, evaluates an education plan to fulfill TJC education and skill validation requirements.
Complies with incident reporting and notification requirements.
Attends/reviews department staff meetings for informational purposes.
