This position's primary function is to produce relevant, timely, and actionable evidence synthesis products most often in the area of health services and technologies. Successful candidates will have varied expertise in systematic review methodology, which may include topic identification; selected and comprehensive approaches to literature searches; evidence grading and synthesis activities; and contributing to writing and presentation of evidence synthesis products. Experience presenting in formats tailored to different audiences is desirable. The Research Associate will work on a variety of projects at the Center.
Independently designs evidence synthesis methods and conducts searches according to established criteria. Obtains, synthesizes, and maintains (in a range of formats) information from a variety of sources, including research publications, multiple databases, web sources, and policy sources.
Independently prepares initial drafts of research, policy, or other types of reports according to established formats and standards, ensuring accuracy and clarity, and using narrative text, tables, and appropriate illustrations. Creates and manages references in a reference software program.
Independently tracks report progress, anticipating next steps, and gathering required information from internal and external contacts to produce high-quality, timely reports.
Communication and Dissemination: Develops and maintains effective relationships with Center clients, internal and external evidence resources, and a wide variety of state and federal governmental organizations and community groups.
Master's degree relevant to health research, library science, and/or medical informatics AND Three years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research (or RN or allied health professional) and 5 years related experience.
Experience assisting with the gathering, compiling, and reporting of health research information and statistical data plus assisting with drafting this information into narrative reports.
Policy (local, state or federal government or equivalent) experience.
Experience in synthesizing evidence for use in decision making.
Experience working with computer software applications or packages ( e.g. statistical analyses system, Excel, etc)
Experience working on multiple research projects simultaneously with excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge and application of gathering, compiling, and reporting research information.
Experience in using web and bibliographic resources to identify health research Proficiency in office technologies, i.e., fax, phone, photo copying, as well as computer application knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, graphics program, database etc.)
Proficiency in electronic records cataloging and filing systems.
Proficiency in typing and transcription.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent writing, grammatical and proof reading skills.
Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with issues of a sensitive nature and to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Master's degree relevant to health research, health policy, public administration, library science, and/or medical informatics.
Three years of experience assisting with the gathering, compiling, analyzing, and reporting of health research information and statistical data plus assisting with drafting this information into narrative reports.
One year of experience with medical coding.
Demonstrated ability to gather, compile, analyze and maintain, in a range of formats, information from a variety of sources, including research publications, web sources, and internal and external contacts.
Knowledge and experience utilizing a variety of search strategies, databases and Endnote.
Knowledge of principles of web design for effective communication.
