DUTIES:Responsiblities include, but not limited to:Analyzing and reconciling accounts for accuracy and compilance with all pertinent procedures and regulations.Preparing complex journal entries, reconciling bank accounts, and verifying related accounting information.Identifying weaknesses in internal controls and safeguarding assets.Retrieving and verifying data, and generating electronic and hard copies of accounting documents from accounting systems.Reviewing and adjusting funds or accounts, as appropriate.Ensuring payments are posted to appropriate accounts, and assisting in monthly and annual financial statement preparation.Preparing closing entries and schedules, and preparing and analyzing internal service rates.Assisting the auditors by providing schedules and transaction explanations.Providing technical advice to institutional staff regarding allowable expenditures, issues or problems.Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other department staff and faculty.(DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION)QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 3 years Accounting or Finance experience, preferably in a college and/or government environment. Knowledge of government accounting policies and procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).PREFERRED: Knowledge of Lawson Accounting System, State of New York SFS Accounting systems, Banner, Argos Report Writer.Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees.
