Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Traded Credit Risk Management, Asia Pacific.
Oversee the effective identification, assessment, management, monitoring and mitigation of traded credit risk across all Global Markets businesses and products in the region
Provide independent input and challenge to Global Markets to define the overall traded credit risk appetite and support management of key traded credit risk exposures
Lead the implementation of prudent traded credit risk policies across all Asia Pacific sites and manage risk activity in liaison with the regional traded credit risk management and control teams, as well as sites traded credit risk managers
Manage implementation and ongoing effectiveness of traded credit risk management and associated procedures and controls, including the assessment of vulnerabilities through stress-testing and scenario analysis
Proactively identify, assess and provide a forward-looking view on emerging risks and issues, developing mitigating strategies where necessary
Provide input to help shape the Global Markets' business strategy and ensure new products and changes to the business operating model are appropriately considered, and support the business in the achievement of sustainable growth aspirations, by enabling the business to take traded credit risk appropriately
Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders and build a positive risk culture through communication and education on traded credit risk management and effective role modelling of traded credit risk capabilities and HSBC values
Post-graduate degree in financial engineering, mathematic finance or a related field, preferably with relevant professional qualification (CFA or FRM)
Self-starter with can-do attitude, excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, and strong leadership to manage a large team
Knowledge risk governance and risk management framework with a strong understanding of the regulatory environment
Familiar with financial derivatives and Global Markets products, and deep knowledge of counterparty exposure measurement principles
Ability to make accurate and timely decisions in challenging situations, analysing the balance of risk and reward and aligning business decisions to the organisation's strategy and commercial objectives
Proven track record of partnering with the business, collaborating across organisational boundaries, building strong networks and influencing to achieve specific outcomes
