The Systems Analyst IV - Application Analyst is responsible for the maintenance ofSCC Laboratory Information Systems Suite - Soft Lab and associated Cerner Millennium applications at the Cook CountyHealth & Hospitals System (CCHHS). The incumbent provides immediateapplication and systems support and oversight in the completion of projects,system enhancements, application of vendor upgrades and application support aswell as support of end-users.
Designs,builds and documents application changes utilizing SCC (Soft Lab) and CernerMillennium applications. Consults withend-users on SCC (Soft Lab) and Cerner Millennium design and buildchanges. Tests software to detailedspecifications.
Identifies,analyzes, tracks and reports on project issues keeping management abreast ofproject activity and reports.
Learnsnew clinical applications and oversees the completion of tasks related toclinical system functions.
Coordinate'sthe resolution of end-user calls and determines appropriate action byinvestigating and analyzing reported hardware and software problems.
Evaluatesand assists senior management in the implementation of system upgrades.Analyzes functional requirement documentation by conducting interviews with keypersonnel to collect information on the use of the current system. Identifies and encourages user departmentprocedural changes.
Refinessample test plans for conversions, interfaces and applications. Assists in the development of a Live EventPlan. Provides post-live applicationsupport.
Completesassigned work plans tasks. Maintainstables, files, profiles, codes sets, etc.
Trainsless experienced personnel and assists in developing departmental education andtraining materials. Monitors and reviewsprocedural materials. Attends applicablevendor clinical application classes. Learns and assists with other applications as directed.
Providesafter-hours support of clinical applications per schedule
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of work experience in a Healthcare Laboratory Delivery System is required (must provide official transcripts at time of interview)
High School diploma orGED and Eight (8) years of work experience in Healthcare Laboratory DeliverySystems is required (must provide proof at time of interview)
Three (3) years of work experience in a hospital laboratory as a medical technician/Technologist (is required)
Build/Maintenance experience with SCC (Soft Lab) and Cerner Millennium/Power Chart (is required)
Bachelor'sDegree or higher level Degree in Public Health Computer Science or ManagementInformation Systems from an accredited college or university
Knowledge,Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
Strong knowledge of SCC (Soft Lab) and Cerner Millennium/PowerChart applications and its relational data bases.
Strong knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle.
Strong knowledge of laboratory workflow.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to train junior staff andfoster collaboration among coworkers.
Excellent customer service skills with acceptable response timesto phone calls, emails and customer requests.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Expertise necessary to work with large integrated applications.
Ability to make sound judgments under supervision.
Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced andstressful environment.
MUSTMEET ALL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AT TIME OF APPLICATION FILING.
Degreesawarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in oneof the United States' territories and Canada must be credentialed by anapproved U.S. credential evaluation service belonging to the NationalAssociation of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association ofInternational Credential Evaluators (AICE). Original credentialingdocuments must be presented at time of interview.
