Supervise the preparation of the annual budget, including estimates of revenue and other resources and provisions for approved operating and capital requirements.
Carry out the legal requirements of the Student Activities Treasurer for the school District.
Identify current and future requirements for financial resources and participate in the development of short and long range financial plans and forecasts to meet these needs.
Develop and recommend accounting and control practices and procedures.
Provide sound and effective management of available funds, including timely investment of idle funds in accordance with all legal requirements and District policies.
Provide useful and timely financial information and reports to the Board and District administrators.
Attend various District and committee meetings relating to the District’s finances; compile data for negotiations with employee groups for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepare Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) financial statements and footnotes for the purpose of showing compliance to the auditors.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA preferred.
Minimum five years management level experience directing, organizing and evaluating others; school district experience preferred.
Must possess considerable skill and knowledge in the operation of computers and associated software used in accounting.
Proficiency in Excel.
Working knowledge of Uniform System of Financial Records.
Understand Fund Accounting.
Superior oral and written communication skills
Management skills and ability to organize and direct employees and resources to a desired outcome.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws.
