My client, a tier 1 investment bank, is seeking a dynamic, perceptive individual with significant experience in a Control role, to join their team as the Global Head of KYC and Onboarding and will be responsible for the oversight of Risk and Control frameworks across operational sites in UK, USA and India.
Overall purpose of role
The Director, Global Head of KYC and Onboarding leads and is responsible for the oversight of the Risk and Control frameworks across operational sites in UK, USA and India and supports the Managing Director, Head of KYC and Onboarding and Operations in the establishment and monitoring of the Global KYC and Onboarding control framework. The role covers all the KYC and Onboarding activity for the Corporate and Investment Bank. The incumbent will lead a team who provide independent control oversight by assuring the production and maintenance of Risk and Control Assessments, Operating and Design Effectiveness Testing, Risk Event reporting, and supporting issue remediation. My client has a significant change agenda, which the team support through the provision of due diligence and operational risk assessment of any business expansion and major change.
Responsible for the oversight of the Control framework for KYC and Onboarding Operations. This remit includes expansion to new International jurisdictions and increasing the coverage across additional locations.
Responsible for the development, delivery and maintenance of an effective control environment including owning the formulation and oversight of risk management activities that satisfies SOX, Basel and Board Governance Standards requirements, ensuring accurate risk/operational attestations, audit management, and business risk prevention and mitigation initiatives.
Understand the operational impacts of the changing regulatory landscape, ensuring the KYC Operations control environment remains compliant.
Participate in and influence the development of the Risk and Control Operating Model design to meet the needs of a changing organisational construct.
Responsible for the creation, communication and ongoing maintenance of the KYC Operations governance and control framework,
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Supports the Head of KYC and Onboarding Operations in the development, design and implementation of the strategy for the business control functions.
Provision of high quality, value add, risk and control Management Information, to support senior management decision making across KYC and Onboarding Operations.
Ownership of the team supporting KYC Operations. Responsibility includes allocation of budget and resources required to successfully establish a market leading controls function.
Work with Clusters, CIO, Risk Heads, and COOs to establish and maintain a strong control environment in KYC Operations processes
Interact with relevant Group-wide governing bodies, industry associations and external regulators
Understand and influence changing industry standards
Participate and lead thinking on developments relating to Risk Management, and the future state of the function and Group
Decision-making and Problem Solving
Participate in and influence the development of Risk and Control Operating Model design which meet the needs of a changing organisational construct.
Lead targeted reviews to investigate core problems and enable on-going improvements in both existing and new processes to maintain well controlled processes in the KYC Operations function
Risk and Control Objective

Proven experience in an Operational Control environment with significant leadership experience in a Control role.
Credibility and gravitas to challenge and coach upwards, horizontally as well as own leadership of team members; facilitate the effective working of leadership teams.
Experience in financial services and information technology, with a wide-ranging understanding of payment products globally and risk specifically.
Proven depth of expertise in strategy execution, with experience of leading change across a multi-site risk and control function.
Experience of working successfully in diverse cultures in a sensitive manner to create strong relationships with senior leadership.
Strong working knowledge of the regulations and standards of relevant industry bodies and organisations.
Experience of continuous process and control improvement for both efficiency and exposure reasons.
Credible experience of advanced data analytics and the ability to use this to influence at the highest level.
