Strategy and Business Development: This position will oversee the facilitation of the DHP strategy process and provide leadership to new business development activities. This will include creating business plans to leverage core competencies to pursue new business opportunities through geographic expansion and/or further penetration of existing segments through new distribution channels and partnerships. The range of services would include contractual relationships to more formal insurance collaborations with other similarly positioned health systems that desire to capture membership and managed total cost of care through an IDN model.
The position will serve as the primary day to day leader for the existing Prevea360 business venture. In this capacity the position will be responsible for creating, monitoring and achieving all memberships and financial goals, managing the governance process and providing strategic input and recommendations to the Prevea360 governance committee.
This position will have overall responsibility for the planning and coordination activities to secure new licenses and develop optimal legal entity structures to support the expansion of insurance products to other SSM markets. The work will include directing and synthesizing key inputs and work products from legal, finance, human resources and operations to develop a comprehensive business plan for new market launches. While the position will report to the DHP VP Network Management & Group Product Segment Leader, this role will support initiatives working directly with WI-Region triad leaders, and SSM Health System management.
Large Group Product Leadership: This position will oversee the creation and implementation of the product strategy for the commercial large group and ASO product lines. This will include assessing the overall performance of the products, designing innovative new features to improve market competitiveness and building alignment across product, compliance and sales & marketing to implement strategic initiatives.
Essential Job Duties:
Lead Dean Health Plan strategy planning process including strategic initiative prioritization, facilitating the DHP Strategy Committee and linking to SSM Health Regional Strategy process.
Create and execute business development strategies in the health insurance industry.
Lead business development staff inclusive of training, development, mentoring and goal setting.
Serve as the overall business lead for the Prevea360 relationship (target $100 million revenue). In the capacity, the position will be responsible to create, monitor and achieve all Prevea360 membership and financial goals.
Develop criteria used to identify suitable candidate health systems for partnerships and joint venture insurance collaborations. Identify and lead the recruitment of potential health system clients/partners.
Designing and implementing frameworks and programs between DHP and owned care delivery providers to promote efficient funds flows and value based care.
Recognize the need for timely transition of suitable health system candidates into active working partnerships via financial, operational, and medical business line management.
Develop and implement plans to secure new licenses and develop optimal legal entity structures to support the expansion of insurance products to other SSM markets.
Analyze product and market segmentation data to develop business plans to support launch of innovative product solutions/features and new market entries.
Lead Large Group/ASO Product Lifecycle (assessing product performance/results, assessing product competitiveness, designing/implementing product changes, aligning distribution channel and getting message out to the market.
Oversee Market Research (data sources, repositories, dissemination and leveraging in key messaging, market approaches and organizational initiative prioritization).
Lead development and implementation of new distribution channels. Once stable, transition responsibilities to ongoing sales and operational areas.
Collaborate with SSM Health leadership to drive Direct to Employer solutions and launch DHP capabilities across other SSM markets.
Oversee and contribute to the development of market studies, business plans, and operational implementation plans.
Develop and manage staff including Product Managers, Product Analysts, Strategy Analysts and Business Solutions Leaders.
Identify and manage external resources (financial, legal consultants, etc.) as needed.
Develop and manage an annual budget – achieve revenue targets and manage expenses
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field
10 years of experience in a business leadership role, preferably in the health insurance industry
Demonstrated experience in successful management and development of a team of results-oriented individuals
Proven experience with the creation and execution of business development strategy.
Experience leading a Strategic Planning function.
Product Management experience.
Proven leader with strong interpersonal communication, organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently on tasks in a matrix business structure.
Creative marketer of opportunities with exceptional negotiation skills.
Demonstrated success in building and maintaining a strong professional network within the industry.
MBA or Advanced degree is desirable
Prior experience working in a new ventures related environment developing and executing business partnerships/acquisitions and venture investments
