Advertised Summary Job Description: The Development Assistant provides administrative and general office assistance to the Development Officer. Duties include:
- The incumbent researches prospective donors; researches and analyzes statistical data; and drafts and compiles proposals and reports, based on concepts and parameters established by the Development Officer, to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and major donors. - Drafts administrative memorandums, letters of correspondence, requests for gift renewals, and thank you and acknowledgement letters. - Produces the semi-annual newsletter with a circulation of up to 10,000, including the drafting articles. - Schedules site visits and meetings, compiling necessary information for the meetings; maintains the development calendar and proposal tracking system; attends development committee meetings and produces materials for presentations; and assists in coordinating the Annual Benefit Auction - Directs work-study, casual and volunteer employees in the Development Officer's absence; maintains filing systems; and handles other administrative and office tasks as needed. -Assists in coordinating the Annual Benefit Gala/Auction, including drafting articles and overseeing distribution, both online and hard copy
General Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years' administrative or related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Strong communication, organizational, writing and interpersonal skills necessary. Strong computer skills required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook). Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high-volume environment, while discreetly handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Some evening hours may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Interest in fund raising with some fund raising or development office experience preferred. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Adobe Pagemaker and/or basic web design skills preferred.Some College and web design skills.
