Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with adjusted summer schedule). Some evenings and weekend work may be required to support events and Career Center activities.

Under the general direction of the Director of the Career Center, the incumbent will serve as a career counselor in a centralized comprehensive center to individuals and groups of students and alumni. Typical activities include, but are not limited to:
Incumbent will conduct career assessments, gathers career information, performs job searches, and assists clients with identifying and evaluating graduate school options.
Conducts comprehensive intake interviews assisting clients with resume development, interviewing skills, job search action plans and self-assessment. Prepares clients for interviews and supports clients at campus and campus-sponsored career events through experiences such as mock interviews and development of an "elevator speech" and assists with soft skills development.
Assesses and provides feedback to clients to enhance their candidate job search materials. Selects, administers and interprets career interest, aptitude and other assessment tools and provides feedback and career guidance to clients based on the results.
Researches labor-market/career trends and creates information resources for client use. Collects online materials and hands-on resources including: labor market information, employer information, directories, resource guides, career path options, corporate annual reports, policies, products and services.
Introduces client to the newest career information via the internet and other software options. Maintains resources for client use, by keeping abreast of the latest recruiting trends and specific needs for a wide variety of industries.
Develops, coordinates and delivers training and skill development workshops to individuals and groups, such as resume preparation, job-search strategies, and career information technology including internet links, interview skills and experiential learning preparation.
Promotes client engagement in classroom, out-of-classroom, and community based learning activities that contribute to career planning and preparation. Critically analyzes clients' work. Serve as an expert regarding traditional resumes, co-curricular resumes, vitae's, cover letters, thank-you letters, letters of reference and statements of purpose formats and content. Provides guidance about internships and collaborates with internship coordination staff.
Facilitates a link for employers to clients and faculty through services and events to promote internship service learning and work experience. Promotes university and career services through active participation in professional organizations.
Participates in vision and strategic planning and goal setting. Maintains records in an orderly manner that is consistent to departmental practices and CSU-standards. Measures and analyzes and reports on client learning outcomes that contributes to development of annual and other departmental reports geared to various stakeholders.
Applicants must possess the equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and the equivalent to three years of professional experience, preferably in the areas of career counseling, internship coordination, service learning, volunteer recruitment, or human resources. Applicants must have a working knowledge of federal, state and local market regulations and business practices as it relates to internships and employment. Applicants must have highly effective interpersonal communication skills. Applicants must have working knowledge of standard office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. It is highly desired that this position have experience with assessment of student learning and student success. It is highly desired that the applicant have experience working with NACELink/Handshake Qualtrics, Blackboard or other project management and student contact software that will be utilized in this position.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in counseling, sociology, psychology, or business administration. Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Experience managing social media channels and MBTI certified is a plus.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
