Senior Counsel: Johns Hopkins All Children’s HospitalThe prestigious & world renowned Johns Hopkins Health System is searching for a Senior Counsel for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel of JHHS and collaborating closely with the CEO of the hospital, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in healthcare law and provide on-site direction, leadership and management of legal services. This individual will work in partnership with the JHHS Legal Team and provide advice and counsel to the CEO, the Board of Trustees and executive staff regarding legal issues involving hospital operations and governance including patient care, contracts, risk management, physician employment, transactions, business /ventures and public information.An expertise in and a passion for healthcare, a client focused approach and a team spirit are essential characteristics for this in house legal expert.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS• JD with ten (10) + years of experience in healthcare law required• Special skills and knowledge to include: 1. Applicable federal and Florida state laws and regulations to include: fraud & abuse laws and HIPAA 2. General business and contract law. 3. Laws & regulations applicable to practitioners and providers of healthcare 4. Physician compensation and employment 5 Risk Management & Patient Care issues 6. Business & Commercial transactions 7. Experience in drafting and negotiation agreements• Able to provide both senior management & operation personnel with sound and practical legal advice• Highly developed analytical legal skills• Excellent communications skills CANDIDATE CHARACTERISTICS• Technical competence, confident and collegial• Comfortable navigating the complexities of a distinguished healthcare system• Willingness to learn new areas of the law• Rational and non- reactive• Able to command respect based on experience, knowledge and personal presence• Principled with integrity of the highest order EDUCATION/CREDENTIALSA Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school. Required: Member in good standing of the Florida Bar OR licensed to practice law in another state and eligible to provide in-house counsel services in Florida.
