Full Time 40 hours Grade 009 Research Acctg & Costing Stds Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY Performs accounting and bookkeeping activities of a complex nature for a major college or division of the University. TYPICAL DUTIES May perform a combination of the following: Within department guidelines but with latitude for independent judgment and self-directed action, maintains complete and systematic set of records of financial transactions of department. Summarizes and balances entries; transfers data to general ledger; computes and compiles periodic financial reports such as labor and material charges, stock usage, endowment assets, royalties, investment earnings and dividends, etc. Sets up security analyses schedules; records figures on security portfolios; figures and checks confirmations of purchases and sales of securities; transmits to banks and brokers instructions regarding investment purchases and sales. As prescribed by law, maintains records of and remits federal, state and FICA taxes and garnished wages. Coordinates data for and prepares various government and University reports such as W2, Workman's Compensation, state disability, federal and FICA withholding, etc. Prepares data for computer input and operates computer to produce payroll rosters and the like. Balances all cash, makes up bank deposit and deposits in band. Assists in budget preparation by assembling and computing data. Analyzes operating budgets for variances; breaks down and explains charges as required. Based on given formulae, computes, constructs and maintains various charts and statistical records. May perform secretarial duties such as composing and typing non-routine correspondence, making appointments, etc. QUALIFICATIONS AAS degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping plus 3-4 years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
