The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the daily and administrative operations related to the management of all financial aid programs for CDU students. As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships works directly with the Executive Director of Enrollment Management to evaluate the effectiveness of financial aid and scholarship processing activities, and develop financial aid models that support student enrollment.
Regionally accredited master’s degree in a related field required
Five to ten years administering student aid programs for graduate and undergraduate students, including the administration of the Institution’s student information system preferred.
Knowledge of Federal Stafford Loans, NDSL, Federal Work-Study programs, EdFund, Sallie Mae, EdConnect, EdExpress, Cal Grants, and Web Express.
Knowledge of PowerFAIDS and PowerCampus.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with diverse/multi-culture faculty, students, staff and external contacts.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Use of standard office equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel).
Demonstrated writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Ability to address complex issues utilizing a clear, thoughtful manner and to come to a resolution quickly without jeopardizing the event or relationships with people involved.
Ability to listen carefully to understand, respond, and problem-solve effectively to address concerns and interests of students and campus constituents, guests, vendors, and others, as needed.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Licensed to drive in the State of California.
Ability to speak, write and understand Spanish will be considered a plus.

Develop and manage processes used in the review and evaluation of applications for financial aid and scholarships for students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs.
In collaboration with senior management, develop financial aid models, including institutional aid and tuition discounting, to support growth in student enrollment.
Counsel students regarding the financial aid application process, including for both traditional federal aid application and non-traditional loan origination processes.
Monitor total awards and expenditures of federal and state aid programs, including Federal Work Study and the Cal Grant program.
Import ISIRs over the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) using EDConnect; interpret comment codes with ISIRs.
Process financial aid and verifications; Schedule and package disbursements in PowerFAIDS.
Interpret legislative and regulatory changes to keep financial aid policies, processes and procedures up-to-date.
Authorize and coordinate disbursement of student financial aid funds, scholarships, and awards.
Direct, provide oversight for and maintenance of the student financial aid software system, and coordinate its interface with the university’s student information system.
Manage and follow-up on delinquent student accounts.
Manage the student appeals process.
Prepare and administer the department’s budget.
Conduct monthly reconciliations of student loans to cash on deposit, and between financial aid, federal DOE, and business office records.
Prepare and submit the annual FISAP to apply for Campus-Based Program funding for the upcoming award year and to report on Campus-Based Program expenditures for the previous award year.
Prepare other financial aid reports for state and federal government, agencies, foundations, institutions, and other groups as required.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations that govern student financial aid programs.
Conduct seminars, workshops and lectures on financing college education for students and university staff.
Hire, supervise and evaluate Financial Aid personnel.
Oversee the development and design of promotional literature, display materials and website activities for Financial Aid & Scholarships.
Attend professional development workshops and conferences to maintain knowledge of existing and new financial aid policies, practices and procedures.
