The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness and skill building. The Extracurricular Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of all extra activities including campfire and theme weeks, the camp store and yearbook preparation. The Extracurricular Coordinator will serve as a cabin counselor.
II. Duration The summer camp season includes 1 Specialist week beginning June 25, 2018, 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 6 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday morning to Friday evening each week. Specific dates camp is open are July 8- August 17, 2018. Weekend coverage will be required for two of the three additional weekends during the summer. The Music and Drama Specialist will remain on camp until August 19, 2018 to assist Camp Director and staff in the cleaning and closing of the camp facility.
III. Specific Responsibilities and Functions 100%
Manage Opening and Closing Campfires including fire building and creating a Campfire Agenda
Develop and implement engaging theme week activities and all camp evening activity programming geared to all ages, interests, and abilities.
Plan DIY hands-on activities and oversee staff members leading activities
Manage Camp Store including set up, inventory, camper accounts and daily opening for campers
Develop and publish a Camp Yearbook to be made available in a digital format in the fall of 2018.
Serve as a positive role model in language, appearance, and behavior
Participate and provide leadership in all camp programs
Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles
Other duties may be assigned as required
18 years of age or older
Prior Experience in managing a program area at camp
Experience as a camper or working with children
Ability to communicate effectively with Camp Director, entire camp staff, campers and camp families
Incorporates Team Work and Flexibility into their daily work style
Ability to supervise and organize youth and adults
Ability to plan and lead programs
