Teach a wide variety of undergraduate courses within the criminal justice major. Among the classes taught include, but are not limited to, Criminal Justice & Society, Research Methods and Statistics, Criminology and Delinquency, and other courses as needed by the department.
Commitment to quality teaching is required of all candidates.
Contribute to a program of scholarship within the discipline, academic advising of undergraduate students, service to the department, university and community, and other associated faculty duties.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching, on-campus and distance learning delivery.
Involvement in activities supporting Bemidji State University's signature themes: Environmental Stewardship, Civic Engagement, Global/Multicultural Understanding.
Contribute to a collegial and supportive environment that advances departmental goals, including but not limited to, curriculum development, program/course assessment, student advising and other departmental governance activities.
Utilization of D2L BrightSpace, delivery of online courses guided by the principles of Quality Matters.
Master's degree in Criminal Justice, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment is required.
Graduate-level coursework including theory, research, and statistics is required.
Ability, background and education to teach a range of courses, including specifically, but not limited to, Criminal Justice & Society, Research Methods and Statistics, Criminology and Delinquency and other courses as needed by the department.
Ph.D. or ABD (terminal degree) will be considered, however, terminal degree must be earned from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment. A J.D. and/or Ed.D. are not considered sufficient terminal degrees for this position.
Post-secondary teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution.
Criminal Justice agency and/or professional experience is desirable.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with social, cultural, or life experiences with American Indian and/or other ethnic minority groups.
