POSITION SUMMARY The Manager of Professional Practice/Magnet Program Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery System for all clinical areas across the system. Through innovative leadership, the manager serves as a culture and change strategist to advance the practice of professional nursing and achievement of the Bon Secours Strategic Quality Plan and Board Approved Goals. The manager elevates the practice of nursing and other clinical staff through the development, and involvement, in the shared decision making process as it relates to clinical nursing practice. Oversees all aspects of Magnet® designation and re-designation and other nursing care recognitions, including application, document writing, submission, the appraisal process, and interim reporting. Consults with and facilitates initiatives with organization leaders, staff, and clinical nurses across the enterprise to advance nursing practice, the nursing work environment, nurse satisfaction, the patient-family experience, nursing care quality and patient safety. This includes establishing partnerships linkages, and collaboration among nursing, physician and organizational leaders, advanced practice nurses, nurse educators, researchers, and affiliated academic institutions.
As the organization’s site coordinator and survey coordinator for nursing satisfaction, and nursing sensitive quality indicators, this role oversees all aspects of indicator data collection, entry, analysis, and dissemination .In consultation with other nursing leaders, uses data to develop and implement strategies that promote the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of professional nursing practice. The manager communicates and educates nursing staff, leaders and organizational stakeholders regarding initiatives and steps to achieve and maintain Magnet® designation. Responsible for the advancement of professional advancement through shared governance, the professional nurse advancement program and recruitment and retention strategies.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing required.
Five years of experience in nursing leadership roles with increasing scope and responsibilities required .
Experience in a Magnet facility required; prefer leadership experience with Magnet preparation.
Experience in professional practice structures and processes: care delivery systems, empowerment, evidenced based practice, research, and quality monitoring and improvement preferred.
