The Senior Patient Account Rep's primary responsibilities include processing of accurate patient and insurance carrier refunds, processing of select patient and insurance payments, researching and closing out unpostable transactions, and assigning correspondence and remits to appropriate patient chart or claim. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and expert experience in the claim revenue cycle.
The Refund Specialist is responsible for accurate patient and insurance refunds.
Job Responsibilities â¢ Researches, prepares and processes refunds to patients and insurance companies â¢ Ensures compliance with applicable laws, HIPPA regulations and company policies â¢ Contributes to improvement of billing procedures and processes â¢ Review patient accounts to ensure payments are applied correctly and the credit balance is valid. â¢ Ensure all income refund requests are processed within company guidelines. â¢ Ensure all validated Government payer requests are processed within payer guidelines. â¢ Identify and resolve credit accounts through refunds, adjustments, transfers, etc. â¢ Notify management of any trends identified in workflow creating credit balances. â¢ Reviews Unpostables transactions and assigns to appropriate claim or PAR for follow up. â¢ Reviews unassigned correspondence and remits and assigns to the appropriate patient chart. â¢ Reviews remits, finds missing information and posts appropriately. â¢ Perform other office duties as assigned.
Job Requirements â¢ High School Diploma or equivalent â¢ 5 years Medical Billing and insurance claim filing experience â¢ Knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD10 and CPT Codes â“ Orthopedic billing a plus â¢ Experience with Microsoft Office â¢ Experience with Athena a plus â¢ Must be able to work independently â¢ Must be detailed oriented â¢ Strong organizational and time management skills â¢ Excellent verbal and written communication skill â¢ Strong sense of discretion and professionalism
