Henderson Hospital Henderson Hospital is a member of The Valley Health System, a network of six acute care hospitals that provide care for patients throughout Southern Nevada and nearby communities. Located in the suburb of Henderson, the 120-bed hospital, which opened in 2016, offers emergency care, surgical services, including an ambulatory surgery center, cardiovascular care, women's health and maternity services. A level II neonatal intensive care unit is slated to open by late 2017.
Responsible for performing the basic activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments.
Essential Job Duties:
Performs responsibilities consistent with hospital safety policies. Know and applies infection control policies and processes when handling and disposing of blood and body fluids. Responsible for cleaning, handling of surgical instruments as outlined in "Care and Handling of Surgical Instruments", Operating Room Policy Manual/Infection Control Manual. Adheres to the wrapping of surgical instruments according to the file cards in the instrument Kardex. Replenishes necessary supplies in instrument clean up area. Prepares supplies for sterilization, i.e., skin slips, medicine cups, etc. Keeps work table and counters clean. Responsible for placing sterile supplies in designated areas. Demonstrates sterilization utilizing the flash autoclave. Performs instrument decontamination utilizing the washer sterilizer, reliance washer and ultrasonic cleaner. Selects and places instruments/supplies in appropriate packaging material/containers and sterilizes instruments (prevacuum) complying with sterilization policies and procedures.
