OIA is the hub of international activities at IUPUI. The office works with people and organizations on campus, in Indianapolis and throughout the world to: Develop IUPUI students into global citizens.
Facilitate international engagement and partnerships.
Recruit and enroll international students.
Provide transition support, expert advising, and visa services for international students and scholars.
Oversee IUPUI's study abroad activities.
Support international teaching and learning—for example, through use of the Global Crossroads videoconferencing lab.
Increase inter-cultural understanding through events and programs, including the International House.
The International Student Services Specialist supports the delivery of highly specialized visa and related support services to international students in the IUPUI Office of International Affairs.
The individual will issue visa documents and assist students in applications for benefits from government agencies. The position also includes coordination of orientation programs, administrative support for student scholarship programs, assistance in managing insurance enrollment and waiver requests for students, and other student support tasks as assigned.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong interest in international activities, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, a customer service orientation, the ability to follow procedures and devise process flows for delivery of services and the ability to manage data.
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of on-the-job experience. Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to act as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in SEVIS.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office. Database experience, Dreamweaver and Adobe Creative Suite experience. Experience in organizing large events.
Bachelor's Degree. Past work experience on a college campus.
