HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR, Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI), to coordinate human resources activities for a research lab with approximately 200 members, federal and nonfederal sponsors, and annual expenditures greater than $20 million. Will prepare and submit all hiring information; coordinate annual review processes; handle visa matters and process visiting student requests; ensure weekly payroll approvals; assist with the preparation of research staff promotion cases; prepare employment offers and provide in-person orientation for new hire; ensure compliance with MIT policies and relevant laws; serve as a resource for hiring managers on matters of policy, compensation, hiring plans, and job postings; support supervisors in matters of payroll, benefits, promotions, performance development, and discipline; work closely with the School of Science, International Scholars Office, Human Resources, HR Payroll, and other relevant offices; assist the administrative officer and senior financial officer with budgeting for personnel as needed; and help maintain MKI's directory and its entries in the MIT directory. Will work under the supervision of the administrative officer.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years' direct human resources experience; experience with recruitment, employee relations, compensation, new hire orientations, performance management, and writing policies and procedures; knowledge of federal and state laws, with an emphasis on federal policies governing sponsored research; solid listening, communication, and facilitation skills; and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment and the flexibility needed to adapt as changes in policy occur. Experience in a university research setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of MIT enterprise software a plus. Job #16035
