The Strategic Enterprise Data and Analytics team is currently pulling datasets together into an Enterprise Data Hub. The Director, Enterprise Data position will play a key technical and professional leadership role in defining the direction as well as in the implementation of data-related projects and products for the Darden School of Business.
This is a hands-on role responsible for managing the architecture and data models along with supporting the strategic direction of our enterprise data hub and influence the team's evolution, including long-range project planning, and technical architecture.
This is a new position and will be reporting directly to the Executive Director, IT and Analytics.
Primary Responsibilities Include: Lead subject area designs of the data warehouse and analytics platform Own and manage the conceptual, logical and physical data models for the EDH and other data marts requiring enterprise information Monitor technical quality of EDH work products and ensure adherence to EDH best practices and to departmental and organizational standards Collaborate closely with business and data subject matter experts to ensure that the data model will support business needs Collaborate closely with Enterprise Infrastructure team for DWH / Analytics server platform management and administration Work closely with database administrators to establish and maintain highly resilient, scalable and high performance architecture Establish and own the data dictionary, data repository and data governance / stewardship of the data model for the EDH Participate in management of the complete lifecycle of enterprise data and analytics projects, including planning, design, infrastructure, implementation, release management, maintenance, support and stabilization Interface with other technical staff, vendors with minimal supervision to achieve project goals and initiatives Participate in managing the Analytics platform from administration perspective
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Required Specific Experience: At least seven or more years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, maintaining dimensional models. Must have prior data warehouse implementation and management experience over the entire SDLC of design, development, and production support.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: Business Intelligence Data Warehousing Conceptual, Logical and Physical Database Designs Relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Skills and Abilities: Significant experience with dimensional data modeling, data architecture and design Significant hands-on experience with SQL Server database Hands-on experience with one or more Business Intelligence tools such as SSRS, MicroStrategy, Cognos Hands on experience with one or more ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS, etc. Hands-on experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI Experience in Data Quality, Source Systems Analysis, Business Rules Validation Experience with a data warehouse implementation Highly self-motivated to deliver both independently and with strong team collaboration Strong written and oral communications along with presentation and interpersonal skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced knowledge of SQL Experience with Agile delivery methodology
