NYU Lutheran Family Health Centers, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pediatrician.
In this role, the successful candidate You shall be required to work when school is in session, with the exact dates as set each year by LFHC and the New York City Department of Education. You shall be required to take vacation or personal leave time for those school holidays that are not paid holidays under LFHC policy and to coordinate other time off with the school schedule.
Team Assignments: School Health Program care delivery is based on teams of providers. These teams consist of (a) nurse practitioner(s) and/or physician assistant(s) and a medical assistant, as well as a collaborating/supervising physician, and mental health staff, where available. Providers in a team work together to care for the patients within their group. Team members may include dentists and nutritionists where available. The members of the team may change as deemed necessary by LFHC.
Continuity of care is provided by the team over time as well as between the school-based support team provider(s) and Primary Care Provider (if applicable) through the program specific mechanism that has been established and is in place for that purpose. Ongoing interaction as needed with consultants, family members, NYC Department of Education Staff and appropriate health care agencies.
Good citizenship expectations include: accommodating walkin patients, arriving for office sessions on time and remaining throughout each session, teamwork among the support staff, following LFHC procedures/practice guidelines, e.g., appropriate clinical charting with complete notes and up-to-date problem and medication lists, timely completion of encounter forms, completing peer chart audits, etc.
Cross coverage of absent team members, as necessary, is required; Cross coverage for any School Health site or other appropriate LFHC site, as directed by your supervisor, also may be required.
Supervision of staff at site and meeting School Health Program productivity and quality expectations is a requirement.
You shall be responsible for reviewing patients diagnostic results and for following up on any abnormal findings as well as for timely completing medical charts.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a NYS licensed MD
Preferred Qualifications: school clinic experience pref
