The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the SSCAC’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors
He/she creates and implements a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities. The Development Director shares their development plans with Executive Director and the board of directors. As the governing body for such an organization, the board of directors provides oversight and leadership. The Development Director builds networks to continuously improve soliciting processes and develop good-working relationships with potential donors. Strong relationship building and solicitation skills are important.

Strong interpersonal and writing skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially power point and other presentation applications
Successful approach to influence prospects toward sustainable giving
Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
Be a "self-starter" and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
Be organized and exhibit 'follow through" on tasks and goals.
Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self- confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
A bachelor's degree.
3 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Work closely with Executive Director, and Board of Directors.
Grow a donor management system” including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
Oversee prospect research for grants, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies
Direct the annual fund program; including mailings and annual fundraising drives
Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising activities
Plan and implement fund raising special events.
Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the SSCAC with the community.
Staff Board Fundraising Committee meetings.
Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
Maintain gift recognition programs.
Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
Perform other related duties as requested.
