PRESIDENT AND CEO
DELTA DENTAL OF IDAHO
Founded in 1971, Delta Dental of Idaho (DDID) is the leading dental benefits carrier in the state of Idaho, providing quality, affordable dental plans for both companies and individuals. It has been recognized as the most innovative and responsive provider of managed fee-for-service dental programs in the marketplace and seeks to improve the oral and dental health of all Idahoans.
DDID is a not-for-profit provider and a member of the Delta Dental Plans Association, a network of 39 independent Delta Dental companies operating in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories. Nationally, Delta Dental member companies provide coverage to more than 75 million Americans, more than any other dental insurance company. DDID is the dominant provider of dental benefits in Idaho and has, by some estimates, as high as 60% of the market share.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO of Delta Dental of Idaho is responsible for the overall direction and execution of the strategy of the organization, as well as its short and long-term success. The Board is seeking a progressive thought leader who can continue to promote the legacy of success of DDID, position the organization for growth, and keep the organization at the forefront of the industry.
Delta Dental of Idaho seeks candidates with 10+ years of senior level management experience, preferably within the dental/health insurance/benefits industry. However, the Board values Leadership capability most highly and will also consider candidates who have a background in:
Health provider administration.
Other forms of Insurance and Financial services.
High volume transaction processing and excellent customer service environments.
An organization that is self-insured and the candidate was heavily involved in the administration of this program (amongst his/her other responsibilities).
DDID operates within the healthcare sector, and the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the marketplace dynamics, politics, regulation and reimbursement landscape of a stand-alone payer. She/he should be a strategic, collaborative and results-oriented leader with superb communication and presentation skills. The Board is also seeking a leader who is creative, open, honest and trust worthy, and who possesses a political savvy and ability to develop relationships both internal and external to the organization. A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing or related/similar area is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Boise, the state capital and third largest city in the Pacific NW, is a great place to live, work and visit and offers a high quality of life. Once a hub for extraction industries, the Boise Metro market has blossomed into a center for high tech, agribusiness, food processing, shared services, manufacturing, state government, and other thriving industries. Boise was recently named by Forbes as the fastest growing city in the country and this follows the U.S. Census Bureau’s announcement that Idaho is the fastest growing state in the nation.
