Open Rank Professor in Educational Measurement and Statistics
The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations and the Iowa Testing Programs at the University of Iowa invites applications for a fiscal year, tenure-track, open rank faculty position in Educational Measurement and Statistics. The twelve-month position will start July 2017, or negotiable start date.
We seek an individual with broad interests in the field and evidence of significant professional accomplishment that has contributed to the improved development and use of testing and measurement techniques.
The successful applicant will be a part of the rich history of Educational Measurement and Statistics program in the College of Education at the University of Iowa. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain an ongoing program of research and development in educational measurement and related areas, design and teach graduate courses in educational measurement and statistics, and advise MA and PhD students. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure external funding, participate in the activities of professional organizations, and be involved with state and national activities that support the practice of educational measurement and the work of Iowa Testing Programs.

About the Program
The graduate programs in Educational Measurement and Statistics at The University of Iowa prepare students for careers in educational measurement, evaluation, research, and statistical/quantitative analysis. In addition to academic positions at universities, our graduates are employed in other educational settings (e.g., large school systems, college and university institutional research); government (e.g., state departments of education, state and federal agencies); research and consulting (e.g., research institutes and centers); and testing organizations (e.g., educational/psychological test publishing, professional certification and licensure, college and professional school admissions). Graduates of our programs understand the theories, methods, professional ethics, and applications associated with quantitative research methodology in the social science context. They are qualified to teach at the college/university level, analyze and interpret quantitative data, independently conduct research, translate sophisticated research findings and communicate them to various audiences, design and validate assessments, and apply complex quantitative information in making policy decisions.
Iowa Testing Programs (ITP) has been part of the University of Iowa's College of Education for over 75 years. From its inception, its mission has been to serve Iowa schools' assessment needs by developing high-quality instruments and working with schools to promote valid use of results. ITP also pursues:
research that improves the practice of educational measurement.
design and development of assessments that provide information for a variety of purposes and audiences.
outreach that delivers assessment results and supports use of assessment information by local, state, national, and international audiences.
ITP faculty and staff currently design, develop and validate achievement tests for students in kindergarten through high school. ITP conducts research on new testing initiatives and develops new approaches to assessment and reporting on student achievement.
