Manages the resources and daily activities of a nursing department while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care. Recent Obstetrics nursing experience with 2 of the 3 years in a progressive leadership role. 3 years Strong computer and spreadsheet skills. Demonstrated quality leadership abilities reflective of the facility leadership competencies. Demonstrated knowledge of performance improvement principles, procedures and tools, clinical nursing theory and practice, legal and regulatory requirements, Joint Commission, state and federal. Effective interpersonal skills including teaching, coaching and mentoring, written and oral communication skills, clear understanding of operational and capital budget management. Independent problem-solving, conflict management, and decision making abilities. Requisite clinical and supervisory experience that promotes an atmosphere that is responsive to the needs of patients, nursing, and medical staff. Current California RN License. Required certification: BLS, NRP (within first 6 months of hiring into manager position). Preferred certification: NCC certification in high risk obstetrics.
Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
