<p>International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a leader in the University of Minnesota’s goal to be a top global learning environment for all students and scholars. ISSS F-visa document coordinator assists in addressing the immigration needs of foreign national students as well as University colleges and departments. F-visa document coordinator provides advising and documentation that makes it possible for foreign nationals to join the University and maintain legal status while pursuing their academic, career, and employment goals and responsibilities. They help manage University compliance with complicated and exacting regulatory requirements. They provide culturally competent immigration advising to foreign nationals and their dependents. <br /><br />40% Document production and Reporting:<br />• Serve as Designated School Official (authorized by Federal Government) for University of Minnesota Twin Cities F-visa program; stay up-to-date on F-Visa related laws, policies and procedures.<br />• Process variety of request forms submitted for purpose of updating university records and issuing I-20s for continuing students, including departure information<br />• Serve as first point of contact for questions regarding form processing; provide answers or make referrals to appropriate person<br />• Manage SEVIS registration reporting: Ensure all F-1 student registrations are reported to SEVIS by 30th day of start of term; investigate cases when student’s registration does not meet full-time requirement; follow-up with students when necessary; take final actions in Peoplesoft and SEVIS to reconcile records by deadline.<br />• Responsible for troubleshooting as errors or issues arise; serve as point of contact for SEVIS HELP Desk and communicating with analysts at Tier I and II; Respond to requests for evidence (RFEs) by working with USCIS and SEVIS; track and analyze errors<br /><br />20% Communication and Advising:<br />• Advise F-1 students on matters related to their visa status, in-person, via phone and email; provide students information about their visa status and visa application process, ISSS and university procedures and F-1 visa regulations<br />• Serve as a resource for students regarding how international student requirements fit with other University requirements<br />• Assist UM Human Resources and Payroll personnel to ensure maintenance and tracking of employment status<br />• Troubleshoot for UM Duluth on complicated SEVIS and Peoplesoft related issues<br />• Post notifications to the Weekly Update reminding students about actions required to maintain legal status<br />• Update applications, forms, instructions and informational materials (i.e.; web, paper etc.)<br /><br />20% Data Management:<br />• Maintain SEVIS records; staying up-to date on SEVIS compliance requirements, making recommendations for changes to our processes and system as needed<br />• Ensure data integrity; review PeopleSoft data and SEVIS records for quality and accuracy; make recommendations for process improvements as trends develop; assist with implementation of changes after approval<br />• Update and/or manage multiple databases including SEVIS, PeopleSoft and FileMaker Pro<br /><br />10% University Department Liaison related to document production:<br />• Advise and consult on immigration regulations, U of MN policies, and compliance<br /><br />10% Miscellaneous:<br />• Train new F document specialists<br />• Provide support and assistance to ISSS staff as needed<br />• Serve on department, college, and university committees as needed<br />• Other Duties as asked</p>
<p>Essential Qualifications:<br />Bachelor Degree or combination of education and experience totaling 4 years.<br />International/Intercultural experience<br />Computer proficiency to include: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email<br />U.S citizen or Legal Permanent resident - due to U.S. government requirements for SEVIS access<br />Experience working in an international student office<br />Ability to manage projects with high consequence of error<br />Ability to manage high volume of activities and communications<br />Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail<br />Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse team of people and clientele<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications:<br />Experience working with F Regulations<br />Experience working with SEVIS</p>
