The Zuckerman Institute is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, this is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with a breadth of expertise in financial activities. The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial and administrative activities and functions of the Institute.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Supports the management of all financial aspects of grant activities for their respective portfolio of projects and other financial budgets and operations of the Institute; * Provides post-award financial analysis of grants, clinical trials, subcontracts and contracts. Tracks milestones and due dates for all progress reports and expiration dates of protocols and awarded research grants. Establishes and maintains appropriate communication with sponsoring and regulatory agencies, Principal Investigators and other designated University members regarding grant/account status. Works closely with subcontractors to establish a budget, ensure accurate and timely billing, payments, and the renewal of subcontract agreements. * Conducts account and variance analysis, budget analysis, and monitors grant and other funding activities; assists in grant budget reconciliations; * Works with their portfolio of Principal Investigators (PI) and Pre-award Specialists to help develop budgets for grant application submissions. * Works closely with Pre-Award team to ensure proper set-up of initial budget period of new awards. Works with principal investigators to establish budget depending on funding score of JIT and eventually Notice of Grant award. * Partners with principal investigators in the preparation and submission of progress reports as required by sponsoring programs. Works with Principal Investigators, faculty, and finance to ensure adherence to pertinent regulations, policies and procedures that govern sponsored grant funds. Stays abreast of regulations, policies and guidelines related to the conduct of research. Participates in regulatory audits and inspections; corrects deficiencies. Ensures compliance and regulatory requirements for grants are fulfilled and milestone deadlines met including Conflict of Interest and Effort Reporting. * Assists in the development, monitoring, and review of budgets for their portfolio of principal investigators; prepares reports and materials for review; analyzes specific issues, budget requests, and policy changes in support of the Institute; data entry for faculty P&L's and maintain financial reports of the principal investigators in their portfolio. Clears suspense, overdrafts, and liquidation of open commitments. Processes Labor Accounting transactions. Assists Department Finance staff in the preparation of the annual research budget. * Monitors effort for all principal investigators in their portfolio. * Gains an understanding of and familiarity with the Institute's financial models and forecasting tool. Develops a thorough working knowledge of the University's financial and reporting systems and work closely with Sponsored Projects Finance throughout the project lifecycle of the grant to closeout. * Provides support on special projects and performs other job related duties, as required.
General Minimum Qualifications: At least an Associate Degree required. Must possess a minimum of three (3) years' related experience. Strong computer proficiency with an expertise in Excel with strong knowledge of Pivot tables is essential.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: A demonstrated ability to prepare reports, summaries and analyses, along with the ability to collect and analyze data and evaluate information is required.
Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and communication skills, and have the ability to interface effectively with all levels of staff and management. Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team while exercising independent judgment essential. The successful candidate must be flexible in nature, have a sound judgment with a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization. Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor Degree preferred. Knowledge of University financial policies and financial systems is preferred (ARC/Budget Tool). Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is a plus.
