The Director of Athletics serves as the chief administrator for Daemen College’s department of athletics under the supervision of the President. The Director of Athletics will provide visionary leadership, strategic planning, meaningful administration and innovative fundraising initiatives to advance our institution’s strategic mission and vision. The Director of Athletics will be a critical leader within the college who must demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering and maintaining a culture of inclusivity and mentorship. This leader will sustain an athletics department that allows Daemen student athletes to compete and win at the conference and national levels, while furthering the academic mission of our institution. The Director of Athletics is obligated to operate this program according to the mission and philosophies of both Daemen College and our affiliated governing bodies.
Enhance the national awareness of Daemen’s distinctive values and environment
Build a sense of community and collective identity amongst student athletes, coaches, administrators, alumni and faculty
Foster a working and learning environment conducive to values such as trust, teamwork, integrity and commitment consistent with the college’s mission
Develop and implement a short and long term vision for the athletics department
Develop a strategic plan to implement the short and long term vision of the department
Ensure the Department of Athletics continued commitment to the NCAA Division II philosophy of community engagement and service learning, including efforts to support the Center for Allied and Unified Sport and Exercise (CAUSE)
Work in partnership with the Vice President of Enrollment to reach institutional enrollment goals
Maximize the recruitment, retention and graduation rates of student-athletes
Ensures compliance with NCAA, ECC, other external governing bodies and Title IX rules and regulations
Recruits, retain and inspires high performing coaches and athletics administrators
Serve as a College representative to the NCAA or other external governing body events/meetings; and at other professional meetings and/or special or public events
Serve on committees or perform other duties as may be assigned by the President
Participates in university meetings and those of external governing bodies
Ensure fiscal responsibility of the management of the budget
Ensure the highest standards of integrity in all matters of the administration
Develops the department’s business plan relevant to ticket sales, marketing, licensing and fund-raising
Develops partnerships with the local community
Continually strive to upgrade all aspects of the Athletics Department within the existing framework of the college
Develop and promote Daemen Athletics through a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy
Generate new revenue for the Department of Athletics through fundraising and corporate and alumni relations as well as through innovative planning
Collaborates with the colleges’ external relations office
Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the College. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of employment.
Position is full time, twelve-month administrative professional exempt and requires evening and weekend hours and travel.

Ability to work non-traditional business hours
Working knowledge of NCAA, ECC and any other conference in which the college plays currently
Bachelor’s degree in a field applicable to athletics administration is required; master’s degree is preferred.
Five years of progressive work experience in athletics at a NCAA Division I or II collegiate institution that includes a minimum of two years leading and supervising the work of others.
Valid driver’s license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
