APS is seeking a full-time Trust Officer to join the firm. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of client facing experience as a Trust Officer either in the banking industry or a private trust department. Though not required, a Juris Doctor (JD) is highly preferred.
The Trust Officer position is primarily responsible for providing expertise and communication of trust and estate plans for our clients and for also being the primary liaison between our clients and our advisors as well as our third-party legal partners and custodians.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage estate planning client relationships to ensure client satisfaction, fiduciary compliance and risk mitigation.
Develop trust-centered multi-generational estate distribution and asset protection strategies which achieve APS and client desired outcomes.
Interpret legal documents, asset registrations and beneficiary designations to confirm functionality of estate distribution plans, which may include: revocable and irrevocable trusts, investment accounts held at various custodians, retirement plan accounts, employee benefit accounts, closely held entities, life insurance and real property.
Identify and establish strong relationships with attorneys, CPAs and other professional service providers to implement documentation to achieve desired outcomes.
Ensure client satisfaction through proactive and timely delivery of services and effective communication with those clients and their successor fiduciaries.
Coordinate filing of fiduciary income tax returns: Federal 1041 and PA-41.
Manage estate settlement and administration services, including preparation of basic Federal 706 and PA REV-1500.
Partner with all wealth management disciplines within APS to ensure a full solution is provided to all clients.
Document contact with clients, their fiduciaries and their professional advisors within the CRM system and ensure records are updated accordingly.
Where APS is performing fiduciary duties, carry out all requirements in accordance with governing instruments, relevant government agencies, state law and departmental policies and procedures.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field required, JD highly preferred
At least 10 years’ trust experience in bank or private trust department
Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) or Certified Corporate Trust Specialist (CCTS) a plus
Must have an advanced knowledge of estate planning, tax and accounting concepts.
Must have a working knowledge of state probate system, probate court rules and procedures, laws and regulations relating to probate and the administration of estates.
Strong mathematical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Aptitude for learning new systems.
Strong knowledge of complex estate settlement issues.
Able to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Creative problem solving and good analytical skills.
Ability to form good working relationships with all clients and co-workers in a team environment.
Attention to detail and conscientious work ethic.
