UMKC Information Services is taking applications for a full-time Support Systems Admin. A high degree of interaction with people is involved; therefore, sound customer service principles must be applied while fulfilling the technical function. Ideal candidates will be individuals known for their patience and outstanding customer service skills, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work under pressure, meet inflexible deadlines, and deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure. This professional information technology position spans a broad range of helpdesk and desktop support activities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Work includes a wide range of technical support responsibilities and will overlap with some duties of other title series: troubleshoot and resolve problems with personal computers, workstations, laptops, peripherals, network servers, computer labs, etc.
Provide first and second tier support including IS Helpdesk duties;
Utilize remote support tools where possible to assist faculty, staff and students
Assist faculty, staff and students with account issues including Exchange and MS O365 issues
Provide software configuration and installation for computers, mobile device, and peripherals
Provide support for Macintosh, Windows, iOS and Android operating systems
Perform software installations, configuration, virus removal, software upgrades, etc.
Present and train end users on how to use new products or IT services
Write technical documentation when new systems and projects are introduced and basic web editing
Support end-users with printer configuration and troubleshooting
Excellent customer services skills
Expansive knowledge of desktop/workstation hardware/software/operating systems (configuration and connectivity).
Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of mobile devices, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.
Working knowledge and experience with Active Directory, Group Policy
A good understanding of scripting, batch files and software deployment techniques.
A good understanding of systems administration and security principles. Ability to troubleshoot security issues, isolate and repair or rebuild compromised machines.
Ability to do needs analysis and technology upgrade planning and implementation.
A thorough understanding of Windows 7, 10 and Macintosh platforms.
A working knowledge of ITSM
Familiarity with installation, maintenance and support of wireless technologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of users and other technical staff.
Position may need to occasionally provide support for special events or conferences.
Effective communication skills; Ability to present new technical material in group settings and train end-users
Ability to do basic web editing
Must be reliable, team oriented, self-motivated and able to adapt to change
Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or some college and equivalent experience
Minimum of at least 2-5 years' experience
Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
