Essential Functions: Research Assistant is responsible for the intake, processing, and tracking of specimens related to the ongoing clinical trials.Daily activities include but are not limited to: assisting in interpretation of clinical protocols for tissue requirements, working with multidiscplnary teams within the hospital to track, collect, process, and ship specimens according to protocol, retain detailed paperwork for distribution to the clinical trial office, sponsors, and regulatory bodies. Additional duties include processing specimens and storage of clinical and pathologic data for the biobank.Assist in the biobank governance committee and distribution of specimens to researchers as needed along with other duties as assigned. Provide support to both clinic staff and the research team and must be able to communicate effectively and understand both clinic and research to build new relationships and enhance workflow. Responsible for biobank specimen processing including isolation of plasma, PBMC, RNA from whole blood and bone marrow aspirates along with tissue preparation. Demonstrated ability to perform histologic techniques is preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. Three or more years' experience with clinical trials or biobanking or equivalent combination of education/experience in project management, research or clinical operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in an ever changing environment with flexibility and accuracyMust have excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.Demonstrated initiative and attention to detail.
