The Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives will work with the faculty and leadership of IME, including the Deputy Director for Development, to develop and execute concepts and plans for strategic initiatives including strategic scientific programs of the Institute, programs with corporate partners in support of the Instituteâ™s mission of innovation and technological translation, and programs with domestic and international academic partners in support of the Instituteâ™s mission of research and innovation.
Responsible for working with IME faculty, in collaboration with the Deputy Director for Development, to develop selected strategic scientific research programs to further the Instituteâ™s goals in research and innovation, and to support its interactions with Alumni Relations and Development for development in those strategic programs.
In the context of strategic research programs, interface with faculty leadership on specific programs, develop internal faculty alignment, develop and guide execution of program operations, and develop materials to assist with external relations including fund-raising.
Responsible for working with IME leadership to develop a vibrant program of corporate engagement, including supervising staff focused mainly on corporate engagement.
In the context of corporate engagement, keep abreast of internal faculty research and innovation goals to enable supervision of corporate engagement.
In the context of corporate engagement, keep abreast of external corporate relationships and goals of key partners to enable supervision of corporate engagement.
Responsible for working with IME leadership to develop key domestic and international research and innovation programs with partner academic institutions.
Coordinate with internal partners such as the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory to ensure that they are appropriately involved in the strategic initiatives of the Institute, including strategic programs, corporate engagement and international programs.
Communicate with the IME leadership, including the Dean/Director and the Deputy Director of Development, to ensure alignment with priorities and objectives of the faculty and IME leadership.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to be proactive and to follow through with attention to detail.
Familiarity with general business practices.
Ability to plan, prioritize and oversee multiple projects, meet deadlines for deliverable.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
Master's Degree required.
5 years of work experience in program development with increased responsibility.
Experience and track record in building partnerships across disciplines, functions and especially among academic, industrial, government and non-profit partners.
Strong track record of strategic program development and project management.
Demonstrated track record of organizing successful strategic programs .
