Advertised Summary Job Description: The Institute for Genomic Medicine seeks to hire a skilled Communications Manager who enjoys working with people and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. All of Us is a national program which will contribute significantly to the development of a research cohort seeking to engage a million or more Americans. Research participants in this cohort will be asked to volunteer their health data over many years to improve health outcomes, fuel the development of new treatments for disease, and catalyze a new era of databased and more precise preventative care and medical treatment. The overall objective of this study is to obtain informed consent to participate in the All of Us Research Program, gather physical measurements, blood pressure, collect biospecimens (i.e., blood, saliva), and administer study questionnaires to be used for future research purposes. New patients will be approached in the outpatient clinics and inpatient setting.
Position Summary Reporting to the Program Manager and Communications Officer for Columbia's All of Us Research Program in the Institute for Genomic Medicine, the Communications Manager will play a critical role in helping to meet the program milestones set forth by the grant for Columbia University. In particular, the Communications Manager will work closely with the Communications Officer as well as other communications staff within the NYC Consortium (Columbia, Weill Cornell Medicine, Harlem Hospital, NYP) as well as with National Institutes of Health communications leads to achieve the goal to reach, successfully recruit, and maintain the participation of diverse populations within the Columbia catchment area.
- Collaboratively develops a communications/marketing multi-year plan with objectives and strategies to heighten program awareness against well-defined audiences and then actively manages the programs and tactics that support the plan; - Utilizes NIH-approved branded materials for the All of Us Research Program; - Responsible for managing communications and marketing projects from initiation and selection of design, writing, editing and photos through the printing process and delivery, utilizing the All of Us brand portal for approved materials; - Through communications (internal and external) and marketing channels, engages existing ColumbiaDoctors/NYP patients, the Columbia/NYP campus population, and the public in the enrollment of subjects for All of Us. Works closely with the Office of External Affairs to ensure appropriate HIPAA regulations are followed; - Creates social media content and promotes the All of Us Program through various approved outlets to increase engagement; - Monitors social media conversations and trends to identify opportunities for content, conversations or collaborations within Columbia and NYP and with external organizations; - In the communities served by Columbia/NYP, promotes and educates on the aims and objectives of the All of Us program through outreach with community- based organizations and government agencies in coordination with the Office of Community & Governmental Affairs; - Assists with the management of the joinallofus.org/NYC website content and strategy; - Assists with the implementation of customer relationship management tool, SalesForce; - Reviews and proofreads all externally distributed correspondence to ensure consistency with All of Us approved brand materials and meaningful impact to target audience; - Monitors budget and incoming payments for the production of materials with outside vendors.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree in a related field; - Approximately 5-7 years of related experience in a communications and/or marketing capacity; -Demonstrated experience in social media content creation and management, media relations, experience working in a HIPPA governed environment, video production management, measurement of communications campaigns via web analytics, customer relationship management tools; - The position requires excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently; - Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; - Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, fluency in other languages will be considered.
