Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, perform janitorial duties for assigned area.
Essential Functions: 1. Perform general janitorial tasks for assigned area: sweep, scrub, mop, and wax floors; clean ceilings, walls, light fixtures, interior glass partitions, and blinds; vacuum rugs and carpets; clean and dust cabinets, furniture and woodwork; empty and clean waste receptacles; polish metal work; turn out lights and lock doors and windows; refill lavatory supply dispensers; clean stairways, elevators, hallways, restrooms, offices, and lobbies.
2. Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment as required.
3. Replace light globes and tubes.
4. Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers, and other equipment and machinery as required.
5. Washes windows, washes automotive equipment, and assists maintenance men and gardeners with tasks.
6. Accountable for methods, materials, chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment used in janitorial work; safety practices in janitorial work.
7. Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The Universitys insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
One (1) year of experience as a paid full-time janitor in an office or commercial building or working for a contract janitorial service performing a wide range of cleaning tasks including those described under typical tasks. Aware of tools needed for housekeeping tasks and basic maintenance of buildings and grounds facilities.
Use and care for janitorial equipment and supplies; follow written and oral directions; read and write at a level required for the job. Ability to follow supervisory instructions in learning the use and care of janitorial equipment and supplies; follow written and oral directions.

Hiring Range: Min $13.46 per hour to Mid $16.83 per hour, non-exempt
