Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for creating a portfolio of strategic relationship building services between NYU Wagner and its Alumni. The Director of Alumni Relations will provide leadership to our NYU Wagner Alumni Working group, and create various alumni micro-communities. This position is responsible for strategically driving NYU and Wagner priorities to Wagner Alumni through targeted communications, in-person events and web-based content. The Director will create results-oriented metrics for NYU and Wagner administration. He/she will collaborate with other NYU units to collect and mange the integrity of alumni data. He/she will contribute to fundraising efforts of the school by partnering with UDAR staff and assisting with related initiatives. The position requires travel to attend events and close gifts for the Wagner Annual Fund.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in Public Administration, Education, or related fields is preferred.
Required Experience: Minimum of 7 years' experience in relationship, project, and events management in addition to experience with complex data management. Experience working with multiple stakeholders, bringing diverse constituencies together, and working with multiple data systems.
Preferred Experience: Seven years' experience with alumni relations, volunteer management, and special events management in a higher education setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated community building skills with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent planning, organizational, and problem solving skills. Ability to work with individuals at all levels. High degree of flexibility and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to anticipate collaborative needs of diverse organizational structures. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and social media tools is required.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Familiarity with public service employment areas such as nonprofit, government, urban planning, healthcare administration, international development, public policy, and consulting is preferred. Familiarity with Sales Force, Advance, Simplicity, or other relationship management databases is a plus.
