COMPENSATION Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $59,164.63; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $63,439.06 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. This position is covered under the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union; the individual in this position must become a member of the Association, or pay a representation fee to the Association, within 30 calendar days after date of hire.

The faculty in the Data Analytics BAS program shall perform duties and functions under the general direction of the Dean of Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT) division.
Teaching and Students:
Teach courses that may include, but not limited to: Intro to Analytics, Data Acquisition & Management, Multivariate Analysis, Predictive Analytics
Foster a positive, caring, equitable learning environment where diversity and pluralism are advanced
Practice student-centered teaching and promote learning excellence in the Data Analytics program
Assess student learning outcomes using a variety of assessment methods that includes the principles of equity and access
Promote program and recruit students from a culturally diverse population
Provide ongoing advising and guidance in student academic and career development
Participate in culturally-responsible advising and improving student success, such as navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQIA, Veterans, non-native speakers, etc.)
Currency and Relevancy:
Maintain current knowledge and skills in data science and related fields
Maintain current knowledge and practical skills in cultural versatility
Maintain currency and relevancy of curriculum and program for a multi-cultural learning environment
Participate in on-going curriculum development, revision, and implementation that incorporates diverse perspectives
Develop and recruit advisory committee members and meet with potential employers
Consult and/or collaborate with colleagues at other colleges, businesses, or professional organizations
Represent the college in community events or statewide inter-institutional initiatives
Department and College Governance:
Participate in program activities, such as mentoring adjunct faculty and others
Participate in college-wide effort to dismantle barriers that can impact underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations
Participate in program, division and college governance
Collaborate with other faculty and peers within the division/department on a variety of shared tasks
Perform other reasonable duties and functions that may be assigned
Master's degree at time of hire in Data Analytics/Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Applied Math – or related field from a regionally accredited university
At least 2 years of applicable industry experience within the last 5 years
Must be available to teach classes during the days evenings and online
Prior experience that shows commitment to building relationships with students or colleagues from diverse backgrounds and academic readiness
2 years applied practical work and/or teaching experience with:
Data management & analytic tools such as R, Python, Excel, SQL, Tableau, SAS, Minitab, Matlab, Hadoop, Hive, and Pig
Industry experience and/or recent teaching experience in 1 or more of the following subject matter areas:
Statistics & Data Modeling
3 years applied practical work in data science
Applied practical work and/or teaching experience with Object Oriented programming languages
Strong industry and professional organizational connections
Ability to teach and develop courses in an evolving discipline, using multiple modalities for various instructional settings, including on-campus, hybrid and on-line
Experience in student-centered teaching, curriculum development, and program management in a post-secondary setting
Experience in integrating diversity, pluralism, and inclusion into teaching and learning, or equivalent transferable skills to do so
Prior experience that shows understanding and active interest in current trends and approaches in data analytic fields
