The Cadet Training Officer III, under direction, provides military presence and oversight to include overseeing activities at cadet formations, resident halls, and at various Corps/Unit functions. Assists in the oversight and execution of daily cadet operations, training and logistics which contribute to the mission of the Texan Corps of Cadets, including the learning environment and overall quality of cadet life.
Responsibilities: 45% Training and Discipline Performs military training duties as assigned by the Commandant. Observes, evaluates, and reports on cadet performance. Approves and oversees unit physical training programs. Monitors cadet compliance with University/Corps rules, regulations, policies and standards. Serves as a disciplinary agent, investigates disturbances, problems, and violations. Makes on-the-spot corrections. Conducts investigations and makes findings, suggestions and recommendations. Initiates disciplinary actions, writes and provides reports. Monitors and promotes customs and courtesies, etiquette, and decorum among cadets. Conducts inspections as directed by the Commandant.
25% Operations and Administration Assists the Commandant with the oversight of daily cadet operations, facilities, services, and activities which contribute to the mission of John Tarleton Leadership Academy, the learning environment and overall quality of cadet life. Assists in selection of cadets for leadership positions at the Unit and Corps levels. Advises, counsels, and assists cadets on individual and academic matters. Mentors cadets toward making effective and ethical decisions. Serves as a positive role model for the Texan Corps of Cadets, and a representative the Office of the Commandant and Tarleton State University. Performs duties as Commandant's Duty Officer (CDO) and responds to emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned by the Commandant or Assistant Commandant.
20% Logistics and Supply Serves as the Texan Corps of Cadet Property Officer, with delegated signature authority, responsible for many line items in various commodity classes. Implements uniform issues and turn-in procedures, and budget and funding. Maintains oversight of the Texan Corps of Cadets uniform, supply, and equipment budget and projected expenditures to ensure budget is not exceeded.
10% Event Coordination Assists cadets in the planning and conduct of training activities, special events, obtaining guest speakers, and provides training, as necessary for event coordination. Required to attend meetings and conferences concerning cadets/students and with cadet/student groups at times beyond usual working hours, to include weekends. Represents the Office of the Commandant with various university special event planning. Advises selected affiliated and sponsored student organizations, with some duty required in the field and on cadet trips.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelorâ™s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Eight years full or part time military experience (Active Duty, Guard Reserve, or State Guard/Militia).
Required Licenses and Certifications: Attained military rank of O3 â“ O4, E7 â“ E9, or W3 â“ W5
Preferred Experience: Fifteen years or more military experience.
