The Role: As a Sr. Operations Specialist, you will support the In-business Control (Operating Office) team within the Chief Operating Office function. This includes the following responsibilities:
Responsible for the coordination and timely delivery of ongoing internal control processes that support the identification and remediation of key risks, including managing access to Ratings applications, Error records and compliance with the Error correction process and governance of models or templates that are integral to the analytical process.
Participates in projects related to controls, quality and process improvement by providing subject matter expertise, analysis, testing and training.
Proactively identify internal control gaps and process improvements and design/implement operational or technical solutions with a focus on risk mitigation and automation.
Support the assessment of internal controls within the Chief Operating Office
Respond accurately and on a timely basis to requests for information related to issues, findings and regulatory requests.
Track quantitative and qualitative metrics to measure process or content quality. Provides fact-based interpretation and analysis of findings and knowledge based recommendations to senior management.
Effectively partner with colleagues across the Ratings organization including: Analytical, Data, IT, Operations and Control functions.

The Team and Business: The In-business Control (Operating Office) team is a relatively new team within the Chief Operating Office with scope to expand. This team plays a crucial role in protecting and enhancing Standard & Poor's franchise.
4 - 7 years of experience in a similar or equivalent role with understanding of the ratings process, including knowledge of standard operating procedures and policies, a distinct advantage
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification; advanced degree preferred
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to operate in a complex, fast paced, matrix environment; including ability to multi-task and effectively manage time
Ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences (i.e. business vs technical vs control functions) and to write clearly in internal documents, presentations and e-mails
Ability to assess the effectiveness of a process control and identify improvements
Ability to document and analyze business processes, with Visio skills a bonus
Competent project management capabilities
Strong attention to detail
