Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Physician for Rutgers Health Services. This position is under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services and works to maintain the health and general well-being of students attending the University and to assist in the retention of these students by providing direct primary care to students with special emphasis on musculoskeletal issues and sports medicine care to students and sports club and intramural athletes.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs direct patient primary medical care with special emphasis on musculoskeletal issues and sports medicine care to students, sports club/ intramural athletes, and Mason Gross students. Primary care includes, but not limited to, general medical problems, routine gynecology/dermatology, minor psychiatric problems, routine orthopedics, especially related to athletic medicine, minor surgery, and assesses the general physical, developmental and psychosocial health status of individuals. Consults and collaborates with other health care team members. Also may act as a preceptor for medical students, residents, and other healthcare professions students.
Provides clinical consultation and collaboration with Athletic Trainers for Club Sports and Mason Gross School.
Attends scheduled meetings concerning both medical and administrative matters.
Shares in evening medical coverage of health service.
Participates in outreach to the University community as requested.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from approved medical school.
Board certification with certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine or eligibility for CAQ in Sports Medicine is required.
If eligible, CAQ in Sports Medicine must be obtained no later than the second time the certifying exam is offered after completion of fellowship training.
Must have medical license registered in the State of N.J. prior to start date.
Experience in college health setting desirable.
Interest in preventive medicine, adolescent medicine, and health education.
CPR Certification or willing to be certified. N.J. and Federal Government narcotic licenses must be obtained after hiring.
Computer competency that includes Electronic Health Records.
Work with a diverse population and areas of cultural competence.
